”Well, aloe there… Mind if I join you? Don’t wanna come across too hasty – but if you were a fruit, you’d be a FINE-apple.” – Your new blender BFF right there; working his sexy gut loving charm once again. Quite the smooth talker, he is…
And you know what? The blush-worthy compliments are by ‘no greens’ the only benefits you’ll be reaping from this creamy dream of a smoothie. Oh no, oh no! You’ll be getting in on some major skin soothing action, whilst helping to crank up your immunity and dose up on a whole lot of gut loving benefits too; all in one tropical inspired glass of pure ‘lick-the-blender-clean’ deliciousness. Perfect for those hazy summer mornings or balmy afternoons when you want something refreshing and substantial to keep you cool in the heat!
I’m all kinds of excited to collaborate with Simplee Aloe, a new Aloe Vera brand (funny that) founded by friends Alex and Ray that offers high quality, organic, no B.S aloe drinks which can easily incorporated in to your every day routine, one uber-healing spoonful at a time. During a (unknowingly career altering) trip to India, they were drinking the stuff derived from the aloe leaf every day, and felt damn good for it too.
When they returned back to the UK, however? Well, they may have been joyfully reunited with fish and chips and the glory of GBBO on TV again – but the choice of decent Aloe juices/drinks available here on the market was somewhat lacking. First of all they realised that they are generally loaded with sugar – meaning all that goodness is essentially masked by the sickly taste of sweeteners to make it more ‘palatable’. Secondly, they don’t actually contain much aloe (kinda defeats the whole object, right?!) – so basically another prime example of the market using their clever tricks to waste your dollar on a crappy product. Surprise you? It didn’t with me to be quite honest; I’d rather just buy myself a cappuccino than an uninspiring carton of sugar sugar. That’s why when the opportunity to create a smoothie recipe for them using their real aloe juice came up, I was more than happy to get my blend on and introduce you to a product worth stocking up on!
So what’s the whole deal with aloe, you ask? The guys over at Simplee Aloe have worked closely with nutrition pro’s to ensure that they get the facts right with why it’s a trusted and solid choice for your wellbeing – as opposed to a trendy FAD that will be forgotten by next year.
THE KEY BENEFITS OF DRINKING ALOE VERA:
”For those who are looking for good digestive health, aloe vera is a natural prebiotic and therefore helps to establish the natural bacterial flora in the digestive system. We think of it as food for your good bacteria!
Not only that, but aloe vera’s soothing gelatinous properties help food move through the intestinal tract with ease, absorbing toxins along the way to aid the detoxification process.
Aloe vera’s naturally occurring anti-inflammatory enzymes help those with gut issues such as IBS.”
”The polysaccharides within aloe vera stimulate white blood cells to help strengthen the body’s immune system and support in fighting against viruses, thus making aloe vera a restorative essential and a boosting tonic for those under the weather.”
”Aloe Vera’s antibacterial properties combined with its anti-inflammatory factors can prevent and reduce skin inflammation. When consumed, they provide the skin with a natural source of moisture that can contribute to a glowing complexion and the high levels of antioxidants can help combat free-radicals that are known to contribute to the ageing process.”
As someone who knows the gut struggle, I’ll take anything that can help with the healing. Aloe vera is definitely nothing new to the ‘wellness scene’ (Ugh! I know, I hate that term too) and my Mum has raved about it for years – especially after she found it incredibly helpful whilst healing her gut after suffering from Candida. Like mother like daughter, eh? Combining it with the sweet pineapple which brings home all the bromelain (an enzyme to aid digestion), creamy avocado, stomach soothing mint and zesty lime creates a truly epic concoction that will no doubt transport you straight to a paradise island lined with palm trees and Ryan Reynolds lookalikes tending to your every need…
Or you know, something like that.
Aloe and behold! Here is how we’re gonna do it, my friends:
- 1 cup chopped fresh pineapple
- ½ avocado
- 6 mint leaves
- 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 100ml dairy free milk of choice or coconut water
- 1 tbsp Simplee Aloe original juice
- optional add ins: maca, ginger, cinnamon, spinach, shredded coconut to top
- You know the drill. Place all the ingredients in the blender, whizz up until smooth and pour in to your glass. Top with the coconut, pineapple and extra mint if you're feeling fancy!
